A secret meeting has been held between Khaled Meshaal, the politburo chief of the Palestinian Islamic movement Hamas, and Ofer Bronchtein, a former adviser of the late Israeli prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin. ?The two men were guests of the PJD congress.
According to the daily ? Assabah?, the ?alleged historical meeting took place between the Hamas leader and the Israeli activist, who holds a position of? president of the International Forum for ?Peace.
The event is believed to have been held in the house of the late Abdelkrim ?Alkhatib, the founder of PJD, in the presence of some members of the party, including the head of the government, Abdelilah Benkirane. A handshake was arranged between the two men without exchanging political messages, the same source said.
During the meeting, Benkirane handed the shield of the PJD party to the former adviser? as recognition of ?his historical step towards the number one wanted by Israel and one of its worst enemies.?
Bronchtein is reported to have said that, ?the meeting would open new horizon for Israelis and Palestinians alike.?
Both Khaled Meshaal and Ofer Bronchtein suggested that Morocco could play a greater role in the? Middle East peace process . The Hamas leader said that Rabat can contribute effectively to the success of the ?Palestinian internal reconciliation between Hamas and Fateh.
On the other hand, Saad Eddine Al Otmani called upon? the Israeli activist to rally support for Morocco?s stances among Jewish people around the world.
